Austin | Senior [IRHS '11]

Post Image

Austin Smith comes from a great family, and his family is no strangers to my camera. I’ve done family photos for them 3 years is a row now – as well as Senior photos for his older sister Sammie (IRHS 2010). I’ve also been lucky enough to help on several commercial photography projects for his dad’s business. Speaking of Austin’s Dad Andy. Andy coaches Austin’s Lacrosse club team here in Oro Valley, AZ (Northwest Tucson) on which Austin is one of the star Senior players. It’s a classic father son bonding event as the team plays nearly year round. Thanks Austin for letting me hang out with you.

Andrew | Senior [PRCA '11]

To say that I enjoyed my time both getting to know Andrew Stanton and his whole family at his consult appointment, as well as, 3 of 4 family members at the actual shoot – would be an understatement. I’m already looking forward to shooting with Jonathan Stanton… .and he’s a 4th grader !). Andrew is beyond intellegent, he’s best described by the parents that brought him up so well like this: protective, even tempered, big hearted, cynical, creative and thoughtful. If you know Andrew you know exactly what they mean, as all of this is evident the moment you talk with this young man. Reading is a passion as well as a way of life for Andrew, and he enjoys so many different books, authors and subjects. Mystery novels to Starwars sci-fi even including Calvin & Hobbs comic series, andrew loves it all. While he has attended Pusch Ridge Christian Academy all 4 years of high school his growing up years didn’t always find him in Tucson or even Arizona for that matter. Early living and traveling among Europe and Belgium had alot to do with developing Andrew into the well rounded person he’s become. Recent discovery for a passion of all things History is going to led him to college at either Univ of Arizona or North Arizona Univ to study Anthropology & History. His love of football & cars is what makes him a guys guy. Andrew singlehandedly saved up enough money to purchase and maintain his 1987 BMW 325i with approx. 180k+ miles on it, a fact that has helped develop his character of responsibility for all things in his life. Your just as likely to find Andrew hard hitting on the gridiron as staring down the handle of a sledgehammer as he tears down walls for his dad in the family business, or you can catch him helping you navigate the self-serve process at “by the ounce (BTO)” frozen yogurt where he works part time. Thanks so much Stanton family for adopting me in so quickly.. it was easy to feel apart of your family.

Mara | Senior [PRCA '11]

Mara Batinica is a 3rd generation Californian… she grew up in San Diego – moving to Tucson around Middle School. Attending Pusch Ridge Christian Academy all 4 years of High School she recalls her time on the tennis team among her favorite memories including a team state championship in 2010 her Junior year. Mara didn’t even pick up a tennis racket until her freshman year, and she ranked 7th on her team. After a wonderful conversation with Mara I was blown away by her. She describes herself as sarcastic, intellegent & fabulous – and make no mistake she’s right on. Mara has her college application into: Harvard, Vanderbilt, USC and Northwestern…. she is leaning towards a small school in the hills of Los Angeles called “Occidental” where she wants to major in Pre-Med & English Lit. Mara is an absolute book-worm ..her favorite book: “East of Eden” by Steinbeck. At the time of our meeting she was reading “Dracula” and “Weathering Heights” for FUN, ontop of her demanding school commitments. A certified SCUBA diver & a shoe fanatic we had alot in common from the start. Mara – you are a fantastic young woman and I enjoyed my afternoon spent with you and your mom. Thanks !

Orlovsky Tkachyk Wedding | [01.15.11] Tucson Country Club

Post Image

Matt & Kirsten started their married life journey on an unusually warm winter Janurary day in Tucson, AZ. I was particularly excited to work with Matt and Kirsten cause I’d hit it off so well with Kirsten and her parents in our client meeting. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Matt until the final location walkthru 3 days before the wedding, but I liked him immediately too. I was stoked for a couple of reasons. I knew there was going to be a private fireworks show during the reception at Tucson Country Club (Cindy and her staff at Tucson Country Club are ALWAYS a pleasure and TCC is always outstanding) – and they wanted to do an aftersession involving A-10′s at Davis-Monthan Air Force base (results coming next to also be found on facebook). Matt is an A10 Thunderbolt pilot in the Air Force stationed currently in Germany. Since my brother is in the Air Force I also have an admiration for these military brides and grooms I’ve been so lucky to work with. Thanks for your service to our country Matt. Your friends and family were all so much fun, this was just the wedding event I needed to kick off the 2011 season. I will remember this one for a long time !

Matt & Kirsten Orlovsky | [Bridal Aftersession] Cowpony & DM Airforce Base

Post Image

So the story goes: Matt & Kirsten first met on a night out with friends at the “Cowpony” watering hole… to the wedding day, and likely beyond Matt is entered into Kirsten’s cell phone as “Matt Cowpony”. There was no time for an engagement session for these two with Matt stationed in Germany on active duty leading right up to the wedding, so instead we cooked up this “Bridal Aftersession” – Matt is an A-10 Pilot in the Air Force. He and some local AF buddies got us connected with some sweet on location access at Davis Monthan Air Force base to be among the A-10 thunderbolts in the flightline. It was here where we find Matt at his best. Following the A-10 photos we finished at sunset in the southern arizona desert, fitting end for a wonderful couple ! Most memorable to this point guys.. thanks !
