Zachary | Portrait

Remember the name Zachary Karlik – one day he’s going to be “THE Zachary Karlik” and I will have the claim to fame that I shot his first headshots. Zachary is one of the coolest 10 year olds I’ve ever met. In the short 1 hour we spent together I got a chance to see a young man full of charm, spunk and teddy bear sweetness. Zachary isn’t all fluff though.. he’s playing call of duty and black ops and is ready to break into the TV and commercial industry. This summer Zachary will has already been invited to attend an event in which he’ll be in front of 150-200 agents and industry importants over a weeks time… it will be an exciting time, and just the start for THE Zachary Karlik.

Tyler | Senior [PRCA '11]

Standing on the sidelines of a football game under the friday night lights of Pusch Ridge Christian Academy stadium late in the fall of 2010 the night was balmy. I watched the QB hike the ball and quickly hand it off to #25 .. he broke to his left coming up close to the Lion’s sideline and thundering right past me, low to the ground he pummled an opposing defender, straight out punishing him for tackling him. Opposing players asked their teammate “did anyone get the plates on that truck?” to which lion teammates lining the sidelines yelled out “TYLER VANCE” .. it was true, Tyler is alot like a Mac truck. His father was his high school football coach all his high school years and I never in 2.5 seasons ever saw any treatment of preference from his dad towards him. Tyler played and played alot cause he was good. Most of Tyler’s best high school memories revolve around the gridiron, however his most cherished experience in high school didn’t even take place in this country. A spanish 4 class trip in the summer before his senior year left him and several of his best friends with one of the most meaningful life experiences to be remembered forever as they backpacked through Mexico. Tyler describes himself as outdoorsy, laid back, relaxed yet focused. Tyler grew up his entire life in Tucson and will head up the road to flagstaff and attend the Univ of Flagstaff for college. Tyler’s ultimate goal is to become a fire fighter. Thanks Tyler for allowing me to tell your story. Many thanks for your willingness to entrust me with the daunting task.

Sloyan Family | [Maternity + Newborn]

Post Image

Louis & Sarah are expecting their first child and we have a mutual friend that told them about me… the rest is history. This is part 1 & 2 of a 3 part photoshoot. Maternity photos along with the hospital documentary. Last up will be the 8 week checkin of how they’ve adjusted to having the little one in their house. ENJOY !

Madison Sloyan was born early evening on Jan 17th, 2011 coming in at: 6 lbs, 1 oz and 18 inches long. Madison is the first child born to Louis & Sarah. Madison was about 10 days early and delivery was extra smooth on mom and baby. The Doctor spent more time driving to and from home than in the delivery room “in labor”. Thanks so much guys, for allowing me to be apart of / and celebrate with you both such a meaningful milestone. Fun to meet the Sloyan side of the family when I peeked in on them at the hospital. We’ll follow up with some portraits of the family and newborn Madison around the 8 week mark.

Layne | Senior [CDO '11]

Post Image

Layne Plummber has big plans… he’s got a purpose, a focus & is more dedicated to this than anyone his age I’ve ever met. He describes himself as having great diverse perspective, being self-aware & self-entertaining. His mom literally told me one of her favorite things about Layne was his uncanny ability to disfuse tension by quoting random disney movie quotes – (think “Emperor’s New Groove” type stuff). Layne’s parents said of him: He’s funny, warm, confident constantly finding approval from within, almost immune to peer pressure. Layne is his own person and it showed. Layne has strong parents both with huge military backgrounds: dad recently out of the air force and mom currently serving in the reserves, they lived alot of places over the years. Layne currently has dual citizenship as he was born in Bambury UK and he will be forced to choose between the UK & USA come Oct when he turns 21. Like his father before him Layne & his dad embarked on a journey to restore his 1962 VW Beetle, most of which Layne ended up doing on his own cause he wanted to prove he could. Layne’s hobbies include the fun, adrenline & danger producing kind. Mountain Biking has taken center stage as Layne is working part-time at Oro Valley Bicycles and is actively riding on a “24 hours of Old Pueblo” relay racing team set to perform middle of Feb 2011. To celebrate all that is Layne, we took to downtown Tucson with the ’62 Beetle and then headed up north of Tucson to the town of Oracle to the 24 hour course to do some mountain biking action shots. It was truly one of the most EPIC shoots I’ve ever done, and super fun to boot. Next up for Layne: he’s heading to NAU to do some general ED and start on his Mechanical Engineering degree after which he’ll transfer to Colorado School of Mines right in the heart of snowboarding & mountain biking heaven. Layne, it was truly a pleasure, you’re as unique as they come and I already count you among my friends and look forward to staying close over the years with our common interests. Godspeed my friend and thanks for sharing your world with us. I had an outstanding crew for this shoot as Randi Wood came out to assist, Ashley Maddox ( came out to get behind the scenes video), and Layne’s girlfriend Heidi joined as “hair & makeup” who is also a budding photographer. I will forever remember this experience Layne !

Morgan | Senior [IRHS '11]

Post Image

Morgan Eaton looks up to no one ! In fact… most people look up to her, cause she’s TALL. 6’1” tall.. she’s volleyball tall. Morgan is a standout star on Ironwood Ridge’s Volleyball team and counts her fresh start with new friends in her freshman year at IRHS among her fondest memories of high school. Morgan plans on playing volleyball at the next level for Long Island University. Morgan would describe herself as goofy, easy-going & very loving… and after spending the shoot time with her I’d believe every bit of it. Her friends would say she’s stylish, quick witted and Boisterous. I saw both sides of her the day we shot. Morgan wears her height with pride rocking 5 inch heels for prom making her a redonk 6’6” tall. Morgan will be a great success at whatever she tries, whenever she tries it. Thanks for choosing me Morgan to tell your senior story. Special thanks to Randi Wood for coming out to assist on this shoot.
